Tax planning

Making the most of what you’ve earned

No one likes getting a tax bill, and the more wealth you possess, the bigger an effect it can have. There may be ways to stop paying more than is necessary, but tax rules and regulations are always changing, so it’s important to seek professional help.

Choose us, and the first thing we’ll do is discuss your worries and needs and take a look at your existing position. If steps can be taken to reduce your tax bill, we’ll carry them out. Rest assured that all our advisers are fully qualified and able to offer invaluable advice.

Your questions, answered

What types of tax might I need to pay?

Depending on your circumstances, you might have any number of different tax liabilities. All have their own set of rules to follow, which we can help you to understand and navigate successfully.

Most people will have to pay Income Tax on the money they earn, and if you own or run a business, you may also be liable for Corporation Tax. If you sell a large asset like a house, you might need to pay Capital Gains Tax, and passing on your estate to loved ones may incur Inheritance Tax. With our help, you’ll understand the differences between each.

How can I reduce the amount of tax I pay?

Certain financial products, such as ISA accounts, pay interest that’s free from Income Tax. Others, like pensions, allow you to benefit from tax reliefs. We call these “tax wrappers”, because we can “wrap” them around your money to protect it from the taxman.

There may be different allowances that apply to your money, though. If you aren’t taking full advantage of these, you’re missing out on useful benefits. But if you exceed them, you could face a hefty penalty. Our experts can make your money work as hard as possible for you, and ensure you avoid any pitfalls.

Can’t I just speak to an accountant?

A good accountant can be a very useful person to have in your corner, especially when it comes to tax matters. The biggest difference between their role and ours is that we don’t just look at your finances, but your whole life, and what you want to get out of it.

Our holistic approach means that we take everything into account when creating your financial plan. Rather than simply addressing any tax queries you have, we can help you put any savings you make to the best possible use. Your long-term life goals are our priority.
